The Chautauqua and Friends Golf Team plays out of the Nature Walk Golf Course. The 2009 team has fourteen members. According to Coach Don, "They are great and they've improved a lot since the beginning to the season." Coach Marge is proud of them all. Sara S even made a hole in one on July 11th at Nature Walk. It is quite an honor.
Thanks to the Nature Walk Golf Course and staff, Coaches Don and Marge, the volunteers, and Ms. McCauley and Chautauqua Services Inc. The season will close in mid August with a golf tournament and cookout.
Chautauqua and Friends Golf Team is scheduling practice from June 24rd through August 22nd. Fourteen young adults over age 18 and up have participated in early Spring Practice. Two Chautauqua Adult Program and one Chautauqua Learn & Serve student will participate in the Florida State Youth Bowling Congress tournament in Port St. Lucie June 6th and 7th. Luke L, Sara S, and Amanda S will be part of the Bowlarama team. They love bowling and are looking forward to the event. The bowling season is over for this year. The first day of bowling for the 2009/10 school year is September 8th. The special needs team consists of adults 18 and older from the Bay County area. The team practices Tuesday afternoons at Bowlarama Lanes in Panama City (HWY 98 one block west of Frankfort). Participants must arrange their own transportation. There is a small fee for joining the league and a weekly fee of $7.50 for three games. We have the nicest group of bowlers in Bay County and our skills are getting better and better. Best of all we have a lot of fun. If you are interested, talk to Ms. Sirmons for more information.
Several students participated in Spring classes held offsite at the Lunch Box Restaurant and on site at the Chautauqua House. Laptop and software where provided by the school. Internet and e-mail skills, internet safety, keyboard skills and Microsoft Word lessons were provided. Students were able to use new skills for journalism assignments, advocacy and preparation of material for the Chautauqua Dissemination Project.
Attendance reminder Remember if you are going to absent for any reason, please be sure to call Ms. Misty @ 319-0839. We set goals and work toward increased independence. Attendance is taken daily. If you call in, the absence will be excused in most cases. However, if you do not call, it will count as an unexcused absence. It does not look good for our school. So, we challenge everyone to show that you are responsible adults by calling in when you are not going to be at school.
